Independent 4PL/5PL orchestration · part of J.Heebink
We bring carriers, systems and data together in one independent 4PL/5PL orchestration — for optimal control over costs, quality and sustainability.
With our own AI, we continuously analyse the information from your transport chain. The system flags deviations, risks and opportunities and informs you proactively when your attention is needed. So you don’t have to go looking for what is happening yourself; instead, you get the right insights at the right moment to adjust where it matters.
We coordinate inbound supply to your locations, so you know what is coming in and when — for predictability and control over your entire inbound flow of goods.
We select and monitor capacity on all your outbound lanes, keep an eye on the agreed time windows and report deviations before your customer notices them.
All orders, statuses, documents and KPIs come together in our own platform. OrangeChain brings together data from your transport chain and makes it instantly visible, so you always have up-to-date information and know where your attention is needed.
Every order gets a clear status that shows whether action is needed. You don’t have to check every order; you see straight away where your attention is needed.
Status updates become available in the dashboard within seconds. That way you always have up-to-date information and insight into the progress of your orders.
Orders do not need to be entered again. Statuses are fed back automatically to your own ERP or planning system, so information keeps flowing between systems.
Our AI recognises missing details and, where possible, fills them in automatically based on available data and historical information. That way you have complete and up-to-date information without extra manual work.
Four steps that together ensure a transparent and manageable transport chain. From the moment an order is placed to the structural improvement of performance.
Orders arrive in OrangeChain directly from your own system. Our AI recognises missing information and, where possible, fills it in automatically, clearly marked as an addition.
OrangeChain matches every order with the available carriers and assesses them on suitability, capacity and proven performance. This results in the right choice of carrier for every shipment.
During execution, operational activities become visible in OrangeChain within seconds. If a deviation occurs or a delay is imminent, it is flagged proactively so you can act in time.
Performance is made visible continuously and evaluated periodically. This brings patterns and areas for improvement to light, so we can make targeted adjustments to the performance of your transport chain.
Not every transport chain calls for the same KPIs. That is why we decide together which performance measures are relevant to you and which insights you need to manage effectively. OrangeChain makes these KPIs visible and reports on them periodically, so you keep continuous sight of the performance that matters to your organisation.
The KPIs are aligned with your objectives and evaluated periodically. That way you don’t measure whatever happens to be available, but what actually helps you understand and improve your transport chain.
Does the carrier arrive within the agreed time window at the loading or unloading address? Measured per shipment based on the recorded arrival time.
Does the shipment arrive on the planned day, regardless of the exact time? This is how we measure the reliability of the planning at day level.
Do the details of what was actually transported match the order? We measure pallets, weight, addresses and references, among other things, to safeguard the quality of your transport data.
Examples — we decide together which KPIs apply to you.
We combine independent 4PL/5PL orchestration with our own AI agents and data-driven management. This way we help you not only to gain insight into your transport chain, but also to see continuously where attention and improvement are needed.
We start with your day-to-day reality: your transport flows, volumes and challenges. Based on that, we show where Noventra can add value and which approach fits. Not a standard solution, but a concrete proposal based on your situation.
Operational excellence, strategically ahead.
Frequently asked questions
4PL stands for fourth-party logistics: a party that orchestrates a client’s transport and logistics chain without carrying it out itself. A 4PL selects and directs carriers and service providers, designs the network, manages the data and reports on performance. A defining feature is that a 4PL works asset-light: no trucks or warehouses of its own, so the choice of an executing party is not influenced by an interest in filling its own capacity. Noventra works this way for shippers in the Netherlands and Europe.
Outsourcing pays off once transport becomes complex enough to need daily management, while it is not your core business. Concrete signs: you work with multiple carriers, countries or modes; the overview lives in mailboxes and spreadsheets; you lack a reliable overall picture of costs and performance because each carrier uses its own definitions; or your volumes fluctuate strongly due to seasonality or growth. If you have one stable flow with one regular carrier and fixed rates, an orchestration layer mainly adds an extra link.
The most widely used transport KPIs are on-time performance, OTIF, cost per shipment or per tonne-kilometre, load factor, lead time, invoice deviation and CO₂ per tonne-kilometre. More important than the choice of indicators is that the definitions are the same for all carriers — otherwise figures cannot be added up or compared. Noventra does not fix that set in advance: which indicators count, and with which targets, we decide per customer, in line with what that organisation wants to manage. Common examples are on-time arrival within the booked time slot (90%), on-date arrival (98%) and order data matching the booking (98%). The agreed set is reported periodically and reassessed at the review.
A transport management system (TMS) is software in which transport orders are created, planned, tracked and settled. A good TMS brings orders, statuses, documents and performance figures together in one place, connects to the shipper's ERP or planning system and to carriers' systems, and makes figures traceable down to shipment level. Without such a system, information becomes scattered across mailboxes, carrier portals and spreadsheets, making adding up and comparing unreliable. Noventra uses its own platform, OrangeChain, for this.
