Carrier management and transport orchestration

The right carrier, on the right trip, based on facts.

Schematic illustration of carrier management and transport orchestration

Carrier management is the selection, direction and continuous improvement of the carriers in your logistics chain. Noventra takes on that role for you. As an independent 4PL/5PL supply chain orchestrator, we coordinate your national and international road transport. All your carriers work to the same agreements, in the same system and with the same information.

Independent transport orchestration: an orchestrator, not a carrier

Noventra is not a transport company and not a freight forwarder. We do not haul any loads ourselves, so we have no stake in which carrier gets a trip. That allows us to select and manage your carrier network objectively, based on performance, capacity and the agreements made with you. The commercial relationship between you and your carrier remains direct and transparent. Noventra takes care of the orchestration of the logistics chain.

How carrier management works at Noventra

  1. Selecting and onboarding carriersEvery carrier goes through a verification and onboarding process before joining your network. Among other things, we check carrier liability insurance, certifications (such as ADR for dangerous goods), equipment and track & trace. Every carrier works under the Noventra Service Level Agreement (SLA), which sets out clear agreements on loading times, status updates, waiting time, cancellations and safety.
  2. Transport management on one platform: OrangeChainAll transport orders, status updates, deviations and communication run through OrangeChain, our own transport platform. Ideally you submit orders through an API connection with your own ERP or TMS. If that is not yet in place, you can enter them manually via the dashboard. Carriers share their status updates within 30 minutes of every operational event. You see the expected arrival as a time window that updates in real time, giving you full visibility of the supply chain.
  3. Objective allocation of loadsLoads are allocated on the basis of carrier performance and agreed capacity, not habit or relationships. A carrier that consistently performs well is given more room. To keep the chain manageable, we allow a maximum of one layer of subcontracting and we do not use load boards or freight exchanges.
  4. Measuring performance with KPIsWe track every carrier against fixed KPIs, such as on-time pick-up, on-time delivery, acceptance rate and the quality of status updates. You receive a monthly KPI report, and every quarter we discuss the partnership in a performance review. If a carrier falls below the standard, we draw up an improvement plan and reassess it after two months. If there is insufficient improvement, we reduce volume or shift capacity in consultation with you.
  5. Control over deviations and additional costsRefusals, returns and additional costs such as waiting time are recorded in OrangeChain, with fixed deadlines for submission and approval. This prevents disputes afterwards and keeps you in control of your transport costs. Outstanding claims appear in a monthly overview.
