Document Processing Agents

Reading, understanding and processing logistics documents, without retyping.

Schematic illustration for Document Processing Agents

Despite all the digitalisation, logistics still runs on documents: CMR consignment notes, proofs of delivery, transport orders by email, rate cards in Excel or PDF and freight invoices in all kinds of formats. All that information has to be entered, checked and stored somewhere. Document processing agents do that automatically. They read the document, extract the relevant data and process it in the right place in OrangeChain.

01

Which documents do the agents process?

  • Transport orders that arrive by email or as an attachment
  • CMR consignment notes and other transport documents
  • Proofs of delivery (POD), including remarks about damage or shortages
  • Carrier rate cards, with their own rate tiers and units
  • Freight invoices, for checking against the agreed rates
02

More than recognising text

Ordinary text recognition turns a scan into letters. A document processing agent also understands what it says. It recognises a loading address, a number of pallet spaces or a handwritten remark about damage, and knows where that information belongs. To do this, the agents use our Domain-Specific Logistics Models.

03

Checking the outcome

If a document is unclear or information is missing, the agent flags it for checking by an employee. That way nothing is processed blindly, and human attention only goes where it is needed.
